Breast Reconstruction
Sadly, breast cancer affects 1 in 8 women in their lifetime. Mastectomy, or surgical removal of the breast, is the treatment for most breast cancers and leaves a severe deformity on a woman’s chest. Breast reconstruction can help a woman feel feminine and whole again after mastectomy. Breast reconstruction is the surgical restoration of the breast and can be accomplished in a variety of ways. Tissue expander/implant reconstruction is the simplest and Dr. Pastrick’s most common technique for reconstructing the breast. Autologous tissue transfers such as TRAM flaps and latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flaps are also used.
